Sexy Sadie

Sexy Sadie’s Time Machine Ensemble

A trip back to the 90s

Toeverybody knows who Sexy Sadie are. Not their names, the title of their albums, what they did before or what they did after, who is right-handed and who is left-handed, if they like pineapple pizza or if they were addicted to Burmar Flax as kids. Everyone, whether they are Sexy Sadie fans or not, knows who they are. They place them, they place them in a decade, they know what musical wave they were on and what language their repertoire is in. Anyone knows that they meant something, and even if intuitively, they know it was something important. Everyone knows that Sexy Sadie are important. The 90s are an important decade in the history of music. And important times bring important things. It is simply because of this that bands like Sexy Sadie exist. All the musicians who passed through the band are Sexy Sadie, and are therefore an important part of its history, of its musical, creative and generational journey. Of everything that this band and this music meant. And if someone has had the brilliant (and important!) idea of revisiting those years, they must all be there. And if they’ve also come up with the imp… fantastic! idea of playing not only their own songs but also iconic or imp… super-mega-hyper-famous songs from The League of Extraordinary Indies, even better. You know the saying: “The more the merrier, the more we play”. In fact, between the Sexy Sadie songs that someone would like to hear – or that they would like to play – and the ones that influenced them, there are a lot of songs. There’s three loads of songs. It’s lucky that the band has so many good friends, from those years and today. More than anything else, just in case you have to go through that list, because you know that thirty-two eyes see more than two. And because a lot of important friends should come to an important date for an important group. It would be nice. How important is music.

Sexy Sadie formedin 1992, and disbanded in 2006. Jaime García Soriano (singer, guitar and main composer) and Toni Toledo (drums) are the two members who have continued all the years of the band’s career. They started in May and four concerts were planned, but in the end there were more than thirty, including the one in Palma’s Cultura Club on 17 June. In 2014 they returned to the stage for the 25th anniversary of their record label. Finally, in 2018 they returned to celebrate the 20th anniversary of It’s Beautiful, It’s Love with a mini-tour throughout Spain, which began on 12 May on the main stage of the Mallorca Live Festival. In 2019 they performed by surprise on the second day of the Cangrejo Festival in Menorca. They were the “Secreto Band” that announced the line-up. In 2017 the surprising intergenerational meeting between the legendary Santiago Auserón of Radio Futura and Sexy Sadie took place. Initially the idea was to play songs by both bands on a single date at the Sonorama Ribera festival (Aranda de Duero, Burgos), to celebrate its 20th anniversary. They ended up playing several more concerts and repeating in 2018.

El seu primer single va ser Johnny ‘The Good’ (Elefant Records, 1994).

The career of vocalist García Soriano continued as a producer. Among others, he recorded at the Maryland
