Imaràntia
Some music does not need to raise its voice in order to bring an entire island
with it. It carries light, salt, memory, a way of speaking and of keeping silent, a
way of being in the world that cannot be fully explained, but can be recognised at
once.
Imaràntia, a project born in Formentera through singer, guitarist and songwriter Maria
José Cardona and pianist, producer and arranger Miquel Brunet, belongs to that
family of music that knows how to draw near without imposing itself. Songs with
intimate roots and an open gaze, where melody, words and emotion meet naturally,
without artifice, allowing each piece to breathe at its own pace.
Their musical world moves between song, Mediterranean folk, popular memory and a
contemporary sensibility that lights up the simple without making it simplistic. In
Imaràntia there is a delicate way of looking towards origins: not as a nostalgic refuge,
but as a place from which to keep singing in the present.
In recent years, the group has also explored the repertoire of the Pityusic Islands,
carrying songs and echoes from Ibiza and Formentera into a warm, carefully shaped
territory of their own. In their hands, roots are not kept behind glass: they become
living matter, memory sounding again, song finding new ways to tell us who we are
and where we come from.
For SONSDENIT, welcoming Imaràntia carries a special meaning. We love opening the
festival to voices from our neighbouring islands, listening to what arrives from other
nearby landscapes and recognising, within those differences, a shared sense of
Mediterranean belonging. To have an artist from Formentera arriving in Llubí with
music made of closeness, memory and light feels like a beautiful way to keep drawing
bridges between islands.
📍The concert will take place at Sa Farinera, in Llubí, a space with a character of its
own, linked to the town’s agricultural and industrial memory and now recovered as a
place for culture, encounter and shared life. There is something very beautiful about
listening to music in a former working space: as if the walls still held a collective
breath, a memory of hands, matter and time.
At SONSDENIT, venues are never just a setting. At Sa Farinera, Imaràntia’s music
will find a particularly kindred place: a space where memory does not weigh down,
but accompanies; where the simple can become profound; and where a song
arriving from Formentera can resonate, in the heart of Mallorca, like a conversation
between islands.
