Sterlin

To create this particular tribute to Leonard Cohen, the three members of the Mallorcan indie band Sterlin, Adela Peraita, Paco Torres and Steve Withers, have approached his compositions with respect, attention and circumspection. In the final result of this reinterpretation, Cohen’s original themes maintain their basic DNA but are transformed into new songs, enriched with an exquisite, perfectly identifiable, purely Sterlinian sonic atmosphere. Peraita is responsible for translating the poetry and the impressive arsenal of metaphors locked into the lyrics of the illustrious Canadian into another language. She is also responsible for vocally reinterpreting the sensitivity and feeling of each of the songs.

Torres provides the rock spirit with his cool guitar riffs and Withers is behind the creation of the soundscapes for the reinvented musical compositions. Cohen sounds so beautiful in a woman’s voice because his themes are often like biblical prophecies spoken by a sibyl.

Adela Peraita is Cohen’s perfect rock and Mediterranean sibyl who in this album speaks to us of a hunchback, an immolation, a suicide, a cuckold or an exhausted writer incapable of moving his hand to bring the world back to life through his writing.
