Maria del Mar Bonet (Mallorca) and Borja Penalba (Valencia) have been sharing stages for some time now, when their calendars allow it. Concert by concert they have been weaving musical complicities and the artistic progression of their collaboration has been unstoppable. In 2020 they recorded an album together with the percussionist Antonio Sánchez under the title “Maria del Mar Bonet y Borja Penalba”. At the SonsDeNit festival we saw them in concert in Porreres, in the Clastra del Santuario de Monti-sion. A space of great architectural value from the VIV-XV century and which has the singularity of being the only one in Mallorca with an irregular pentagonal form. 

The song of the Balanguera was a very nice moment. The singer confessed to us that she had never been to the Sanctuary of Monti-sion and that she felt something special being there and I think that’s what happened to many of the people who were listening… so when the song of the Balanguera came we couldn’t help but get excited, stand up and sing with her;

La canció de la Balanguera va ser un moment molt bonic. La cantant ens va confessar que mai havia estat al Santuari de Monti-sion i que sentia alguna cosa especial estant allà i jo crec que és el que ens va passar a molta de la gent que hi estàvem escoltant… així que quan va arribar la cançó de la Balanguera no vam poder evitar emocionar-nos, posar-nos drets i cantar amb ella.
