Jay-Jay Johanson
The Swedish artist Jay-Jay Johanson is the great crooner of the electronic era, a Sinatra avant-garde with an innate ease by the melodies of a suggestive melancholy air, 'triphop' dressing, echoes of Chet Baker and great capacity for emotion. His voice, soft and intoxicating, elevates his pieces from the subtle to the sublime, with sounds close to jazz or even bossa-nova. In his live performances he adds an exquisite presence on stage with a style that exudes an imposing and elegant personality.
In June this year 2023 releases new album, 'Fetish', number 14 of his extensive career. The new album is an irresistible and cinematic cocktail of songs that opens a new era for the iconic Swedish artist, after the intimate and introspective trilogy that composed his previous albums ('Bury the Hatchet' 2017,'Kings Cross' 2019 and 'Rorschach Test' 2021). With 'Fetish' Johanson takes us from the most intimate places to the dance floor with hypnotic electronic sounds.
When we still have in memory the whistle of one of his most recent hits, his 'Heard somebody whistle' that Isabel Coixet turned tune of her series 'Foodie Love', we are ready to enjoy with the new songs, 'Finally', the first single of the new album is already becoming a new classic.
Jäje Johansson (real name of Jay-Jay) was born in Trollhättan, Sweden, where he has been immersed in music since the age of seven. He combined his art studies with his work as a DJ. Then he moved to London to work for ID magazine. On this tour, Jay-Jay Johanson performs live accompanied by the piano and keyboards of his inseparable Erik Jansson.
