Camille & Matthieu Saglio
Some music seems to be born from a secret conversation. It does not need to
raise its voice or fill every corner; it simply opens a space, lets something breathe, and
allows emotion to find its own way.
That is what happens with Camille & Matthieu Saglio, two brothers who have created
a musical territory as delicate as it is profound. Camille brings the voice, the song,
and an expressive sensitivity that seems to come from far away. Matthieu brings the
cello, samplers, and a universe of his own, shaped between jazz, classical music, world
music and a deeply personal understanding of the sonic journey.
For years, each followed his own path. Little by little, those paths began to draw
closer, until they formed a shared place: a space made of vocal cords and cello strings,
of air and wood, of breath and memory. In their music, the voice does not merely
accompany the instrument, nor does the instrument simply support the voice: they
search for one another, brush against one another, answer one another and, at times,
seem to merge into the same sensitive matter.
Their joint project, Al Alba, opens precisely that landscape: songs looking towards the
first light of day, melodies threaded with Mediterranean echoes, touches of jazz,
lyricism, silence and a calm, unforced spirituality. Music to be heard up close. Music
that does not push; it draws near.
Live, Camille & Matthieu Saglio create an atmosphere of rare intimacy. Every gesture
matters. Every breath changes the air. Camille’s voice —warm, enveloping, almost
suspended— finds in Matthieu’s cello a deep, organic response, made of body, bow,
pulse and shadow. Together they create music that seems to come from somewhere
ancient and, at the same time, absolutely present.
A beautiful, subtle and moving proposal for a SONSDENIT evening in which listening
will also become a form of stillness.
📍The concert will take place at the Claustre des Convent, in Muro, a space
SONSDENIT knows well and returns to with special joy. Among the stone, the calm
and the human scale of the cloister, music finds a different kind of closeness:
everything seems to be heard more clearly, as if the place itself helped each nuance
travel deeper.
At SONSDENIT, venues are never just a setting. At the Claustre des Convent, that
idea becomes especially visible: the architecture gathers the sound, the evening
slowly settles, and the audience remains close, almost inside the music. A perfect
place to host the delicacy, emotion and intimate dialogue of Camille & Matthieu
Saglio.
